About Fisher:
Wednesday 11-14-2007 8:43am MT

“Fish” has been a Utah radio fixture since the Matheson administration, which, if we have it right, was shortly after Marconi invented radio.  Needless to say… a long time.  He and wife Julie live in Davis County and are the parents of four kids… Allison, Eric, Anna, and Steve.
A certified baseball nut, Fish has one of Utah’s largest (if not THE largest) baseball memorabilia collections, including autographs of Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, Jackie Robinson, Lou Gehrig, Willie Mays, Mickey Mantle and a whole bunch of mostly dead people you probably never heard of or care about.
Fish’s wife, Julie, is a member of the Utah House of Representatives, having gone from homemaker to lawmaker starting in 2004.  If you ask Fish, she gained all of her prior experience as lawmaker at their place.  (Somehow she managed this election thing despite being married to him.  He actually had to buy a suit to go to events with her.  And if you know how tight Fish is, you also know how much that hurt.)  Oh, and by the way… don’t call Julie “Senator.”
Shilo is Fish’s prized dog.  She’s a ten-year-old Jack Russell Terror who has defended the family from vicious foxes, aggressive rattlesnakes, angry raccoons, and even bees.  It’s amazing she’s lived this long.
Fish and Julie just took up golf this past year and are really bad.  Especially Fish.  Nonetheless, he keeps burning the worms any chance he gets.
Here are a few more things “Fish”:

  • Fish and Candace have been friends since the mid-1990s
  • His great-grandfather went to prison in Sugarhouse Park in 1885 for polygamy.  When Fish told his daughter about the “extra” wife she asked, “Did he forget?!!!”
  • A career highlight was interviewing Paul McCartney
  • He was the emcee of the President’s historic visit to the Utah State Capitol during the Olympics in 2002
  • Governor Huntsman once helped him “bust” a guy claiming to be… Governor Huntsman!
  • He was a Fuller Brush man for one day
  • In 1993, using his show, he helped a Centerville woman and her mother find and reunite with children of her deceased sister who had been “missing” for 30 years
  • Jackie Robinson once invited him into his home
  • He did one of the last interviews with one of the last survivors of the Titanic
  • Fish’s great-great grandfather Fisher was a master cabinetmaker whose work has been displayed in the Metropolitan Museum of Art.  (Fish can’t build anything.)
  • Fish’s brother, Wayne, is a Captain for American Airlines.  (Fish can’t fly anything.)
  •  Fish’s Dad was a musician with Ed Sullivan.  (Fish can’t play anything.)
  • We’re not really sure just what Fish does!
